Can anyone recommend winter socks

Are the Seal Skins waterproof socks going to help here? (The waterproof thing more for windproof-ness.)
Not something I suffer with in the winter, as I have Northwave Boots. They're a bit big, which is ideal for a nice pair of thick woolly socks, but I just use what I was given for Christmas. I think they were from M&S.

I have a couple of pairs of these http://www.wiggle.co.uk/defeet-woolie-boolie-2-4-c... ... then when its really cold I'll wear another thin summer sock underneath. All these are under Northwave fahrenheit boots in deep winter.
Woolie Boolie are good but get the 6" cuff ones, I find the 4" too short.
Any decent winter sock with a high merino wool content should be good.
Also worth thinking about what else you wear, a key to keeping your extremities warm is keeping your core warm too.
Over winter I'll wear a long sleeve merino base layer, decent jersey / jacket with windproof front, merino neck buff / collar, Roubaix lined tights, good gloves and a decent hat. Got me through many winters of 06.30 commutes.

I have a pair of mavic winter shoes also which help to a degree but I'd love a pair of socks that would stop my feet freezing Left field, although I used to commute by motorbike - might be worth looking at heated sock or insoles, there's quite a few battery options available now, with a bit of cut and extending of the wire, you would be able to have the battery packs in a more agreeable place.
My biggest issue has always been hands, bought some of these last year, I can happily cycle in sub zero temperatures with no gloves on now.

Another vote for DeFeet Woolie Boolies - and I agree - 6 inch is better than 4.
They do a knee length version as well, but haven't tried them yet. Could only get them from the States so price was daft.
Did try thin socks under the Woolies but this made things colder - due to pressure reducing circulation. This is mostly down to the Lake boots I use in winter aren't the wide fit. (And I have narrow feet - always go wide with Lakes)
