Hybrid Bike recommendations

Hi All,

Can you recommend me a Hybrid Bike, upto around £1000? Head is spinning looking at them all!

Haha my first thought was battery/pedal power.

They are much the same and it depends on your needs. Long/short rides, commuting/social, big/small rider. Mainly on road/track.

Boardman's are a good start as, generally, they are great value

I have a Boardman hybrid dating back 8 years. It has been very good for the light use I have used it. Fairly high spec, including carbon forks and hydraulic disks.

Only failure/ problem has been the front calliper which needed replacing this year.

I find it comfy and smooth,used for leisure rides with the kids, whether they were in attached child seats, towing them with a trailgator or just normal cycling.....

I've recently bought a Ribble CGR AL flat bar with SRAM Apex 1x11. It's was a little under £1000 when I ordered, but I think it might have gone up recently. Anyway, it's a great bike.

I had a ribble on order back in Mar 21 for June 21 delivery. Was put back 4 times and I cancelled my order in July.

They were quick to respond to emails but at the time, as a smaller company, they were at the back of the queue for parts from major manufacturers (shimano).

I have also seen that, but my experience was fine - ordered on 25th May, with a "late June" delivery date. It was delivered to the Bluewater store on 29th June. The only problem I had was trying to call the store to let them know I couldn't pick up till 12 July - I could never get through. In the end, it wasn't a problem.

I have a Trek 7.5fx that I’ve had for a few years now. It’s been faultless as a commuter, and on family rides lugging the kids and otherwise. It’s also my cycle camping bike.

Have been contemplating selling it to get a gravel bike but can’t bring myself to do it as it’s just so flexible!

Trek FX3 for me, a great all rounder and got me from coast to coast with no problems as well as serving family duties.

I currently have a Trek FX 7.3 I am borrowing but its in a medium. Its a tiny bit on the small side but I do like the bike I lot. This one is a 2016 model. I am going to have a wonder around a few bike shops tomorrow to see whats about in person

Bought a New 2021 fx3 disc. Bike shop had stock and they suggested it’s better than the newer bike. Maybe they would but they had both in stock and I was happy to spend the extra. Made up with it so far.

Have you considered a Whyte Portobello?

I had a go on one the other day and it was really fun to ride.
The 650b plus size tyres made it much more comfortable than my old Sirrus.

Twinning! I swapped out the seat for a charge spoon and pedals for DMR V12’s to help with longer distances and rougher terrain but for daily stuff standard is fine.

The blendr system for lights and phone mounts etc is also brilliant!

It was based on your recommendation that I went for it. I will have a look at the charge spoon as the saddle is rather hard!
