Decathlon RockRider EST900 E-Bike thoughts
Discussion
Had a look at this today and think I am going to order via cycle to work scheme as it works out pretty reasonable.
Performance and spec seems good, as do the reviews.
My main use will be foresty rides - Think the e-bike will be more fun as i will generally be travelling faster on the uphills and can cover more ground in the same itme.

Any competitors i should be considering at this price point?

Loads of bikes at the same price but Decathalon get good reviews and spec bikes well. If it were me, my money and I wanted one, I’d be happy with it.
Nice one - popping down later to try and ‘reserve’ one or lock in the sale price as my cycle voucher could take a month to come through. Watched some videos and seems great. sam.rog said:
It's a £500-700 bike component wise. It looks like you are paying 1k for a motor and battery.
I'd rather pocket the £ and ride a normal bike but whatever floats your boat.
Less the tax on the cycle scheme I wouldn’t bother otherwise. Just fancy something that will take me further and faster than I’d otherwise go. I'd rather pocket the £ and ride a normal bike but whatever floats your boat.
Just went into decathlon and got one allocated to me and they’ve added a note to honour the current price if it goes up. Had a look at other sites and can’t find anything that really compares for sub £2000.
Looks awesome . He suggested going tubeless as the rim and tyre is tubeless ready, and the 27.5” x2.8 tyres seem to be beyond the scope of sealing inner tubes. Will have a look into that.
Now have a 4-5 week wait for the cycle scheme voucher to come through !

I bought my granddaughter a Rockrider ST900 (non-electric) it is a solid bike, we are very pleased with it, great value.Looks awesome . Add electric and you have double the fun, enjoy.
Well managed to rush collect it today.
Was a bit of a faff as I wanted to buy 4 or 5 items on the cycle voucher and only one was in stock (the Aluminium flat pedals).
So bought a new helmet, camelpak, gloves, mudguards and some other bits and pieces, just to hit the amount I selected on the voucher.
Ride home was a bit rubbish as I had to carry the mudguards in my hand, but in Sport mode, and the highest gear, it got up a very steep hill at top speed - I still had to put some effort into it as expected.
Just took it out for a little spin, it gets up to the top speed of the motor so quickly on the road - can't wait to try it off road I think it will really excel up dirt hills etc.
The front brake handle has a long throw so want that to match the rear, and the rear pads are rubbing against the disc causing a lot of noise at higher speed - I think the wheel is wobbling slightly. So will be going back shortly to get that resolved.
Looking forward to trying it out properly off road.

Had a 30km ride on it today - really pleased with it.
At full cruising speed I’m doing about 27kmh which takes it off the battery so uses no power.
Uphills on the road it’s great, can maintain a solid speed. Turning it off it felt like the brakes were on!
Off road it excelled, being able to go down some trails and u turn back up them with ease is going to be great for the fun factor.
