Marginal gains in bike security

Has anyone considered an Air Tag for their bike? I have seen various Air Tag mounts, but they all look obvious – wouldn’t any self-respecting thief remove it without much hassle?

We're talking marginal security gains here; an Air Tag’s hardly high security.

Have you seen the mount that fits up the fork crown? It’s concealed but I’m sure thieves know about them.
I have them hidden away keeps track of the bike would need to be stripped down to find it.

I'd say they're 50/50. Thieves are alive to them, spesh on higher end stuff. And then there's the whole question of what you do if it is nicked. Ime, the cops aren't interested in bikes eevn if you can tell them where they are. So that leaves retrieval which risks a kicking or worse or going mob handed and the cops getting involved if it kicks off. Bit of a counsel of despair but the best bet is probably watertight insurance.

Where did you find this product? I've not spotted this mount, but it's supposed to be concealed after all

It could be ideal, provided you can retrieve the Air Tag when the battery needs changing.

Data tag do a device that is the size of a grain of rice, one can be injected in to the saddle and the other secretly glued in the bike. If you register it as stolen the it will passive ping in police cars should it pass by a car. I use them on my bike and motorbikes. Also add an air tag anyway

Muc-off do a mount that fits inside your tyre, attached to the inside of the valve. Obviously only really for tubeless MTB but an interesting solution. .

I have one, a Eufy tracker (Find My compatible) on my pub bike, but haven't bothered on my more expensive MTBs, in that they are either locked up in the garage or do not leave my sight.

The Knog Scout is Air Tag technology but also has a built in alarm 85dB. It bluetooths to your phone and so the alarm sounds on your phone simultaneously. The idea is that it’s great for Cafe stops or nipping into a shop when you don’t have a lock. Should prevent your bike being stolen in the first place and does not need a subscription.
I’ve seen these work, the alarm is instant, so the minute someone moves your bike a foot it sounds. Should give you time to run out and intercept the thief.

Where do you leave your bike out of curiosity? Mine is either in the house or I'm on it. Either way, it's covered specifically under my house insurance.

I have one on my commuter bike, it's more for if I get the bike taken off me by force that it being stolen from home.
