Ape Hangers, Cow Horns or…

I’m looking to resurrect a Specialised Hybrid from the garage mostly to use as a pub bike and fancy something of a more relaxed riding position so I'm considering some 70’s retro handle bars so was thinking Ape Hangers or Cow Horns.

Anyone have any other ideas ???

Interesting concept. Ape hangers - in my opinion - are horrible to ride however cowhorns could be fun. I used to have a "tracker" bike in the 1970s that I built from a racer, some spuddy tyres and some cowhorns. Can you still get them?

If you just want to sit more upright, there are ways... taller stem with reduced reach (Ergotec Charisma) with swept-back bars (On One Og).

Fair point. This will horrify some now but in the 1980s a friend and I tried to smash up and old Raleigh Chopper with a sledge hammer and saw in his garden and gave up, totally worn out after about 15 mins after doing minimal damage. It was built like a

The Christmas that my brother received his Grifter, I received a Bomber which must have been made from whatever the "anti matter" equivalent of what the Grifter was made from because the forks bent just from landing wheelies. We used to call it cheese-steel.

Whenever I see an old bike done up on a TV programme I always check out the forks when they show an exact side on view to see if they are bent back from a front end smash. They often are.

I think there are still the remains of 80's kids stuck under Grifters, deep in the depths of British woods.
