Has anyone on here used the pre glued patches with any success? Feedback is mixed online but I'm guessing some of the negative views could be user error, unless you know different?

This is the type of thing I'm looking at

I've had no issue with the Park Tool ones.

Personally I would just buy a spare inner tube

I will have to try these again, they do some of the best tools after all . I had them fail on me badly about 12 years ago, but think I may not have cleaned the tubes well enough before applying.

Do you find they stick long term?

But you have to fix the busted one at some point...(Let alone the day you get a couple of punctures).

I've found the few minutes to do a glued patch is worth it as they work and work reliability, whereas I find the pre-sticky patches variable to poor in the cold.

I couldn't tell you how old the oldest is... I bought them as back up for my back up tube for a tubeless bike but ended up using them for the kids and they seem to hold absolutely fine.

I have the pre sticky ones as a back up on the road bikes that have tubes. So I’ll take one spare tube and then have the patches in case I get more than one puncture. Which is rare.

I’ll generally fix the tube at home with a proper patch kit tho.

I use them to fix TPU tubes, the Halfords patches are really good actually. Better than the Decathlon ones. They seal punctures just fine and the patches bond really well to TPU tubes. Not used them with normal tubes as I don't use them. Gravel & mtb's are all tubeless, but use TPU for road.

I know my train of thought is from a mountain biking perspective (but the misses rides road and I would say the same) just run a slightly tougher tire carcass and go tubeless. The weight difference will be the same or better, you are less likely to set a puncture to begin with and also less likely to require the extra spares to take with you as the sealant will plug the hole etc

I've used Park Tool ones in the past for emergency repairs (ran out of spare tubes while out on a ride), but I didn't find that the repair lasted as well as normal patches.

I use park tools ones, they don’t last all too long. Maybe 6 months IME

Thanks for all the comments.

Four of my five bikes are tubeless but I have a Tern folder that runs tubes. I do carry a spare tube but was thinking of adding the patches as a back up system.

+1 for the Park Tools ones. Well worth keeping in the kit to get you or someone else home.

Saved me the Call of Shame when I pulled out my spare tube only to find I’d had it so long and stored it wrong so the valve had worn a hole in the tube!

I do. Ripped a double down maxxis at dyfi, patched it up inside with a park tool one, then replaced with a spare for the day.

The patched one lived on until the tread was done.

I carry the Park Tool ones with me if I go abroad, just accept it'll take a little while to dry, then ride the following day.

The Park Tools patches are all I've used to repair punctures for years. No issues at all. The kids' bikes have several on each tube!
