Sorry, I'm normally on 4 wheels so have little bike knowledge and haven't even bought the Lycra yet. At 70 it may not be a good look.

In an attempt to restore some fitness I've recently bought a Trek racing bike at auction. All in pristine condition including a nicely plumbed-in Shimano trip computer (minus the computer) - although a bit of Googling suggests this is a long-obsolete model.

I've attached a photo of the sender unit and the cradle. As far as I can make out I'm in need of a Shimano "Flight Deck" SC 6500 head unit ?

So the questions are :

1) is this right ?

2) Would the sender unit/cradle be compatible with other models of Shimano computers ?

3) Any suggestions as to where I might source one (fed up with crooks on eBay so keen to avoid) ?

I'm aware that the best answer may be "scrap it and buy a decent modern unit" but I thought I'd give it a punt.

It depends on what you are seeking to gain from the OBC.

I think you are right that the tech appears to be from Noah's time (wired sensors?). I'd suggest getting a cheap modern solution, whether new, refurbished or simply second hand. Early Wahoo Elemnt Bolt/Roam units are available second hand for £30-40.

Easier to buy a Garmin or Wahoo and a cadence and wheel sensor.

Nothing fancy if you're just trying to get some general fitness.

That makes every sense rather than trying to source something that is obsolete and probably won’t work anyway !

Thanks both.
