Mountain bike sales
Discussion
Hi, a while ago there was a thread on here about the best places to buy a mountain bike. I've done a search and can't find the thread.
Basically I'm looking for the online shop that sells top line bikes that have been superceded i.e. new 2005MY bikes - nice and cheap. Sorry it's vague, but those who know, will know, if you know what I mean!!
Am I better off buying a top of the line two year old design or a new mid range bike for the same price?

there is mtn bike discussion on the Pedal Powered forum ...
anyway : most bike shops discount '06 models at this time of year as they get the '07 stock in.... just be aware that some 07 models are often better spec'd.... so the "discounted " 06 model isn't always a better buy.
Its well worth checking shops which are on-line too like Merlincycles , Chainreaction , Wiggle and Evans .... lots of others too.
Whats your budget ?
Do you want a full-sus or a hard-tail ?
do you do x-c riding or downhill and jumpy stuff ?

Us bikey types have our own forum now, probably better posting this there. I haven't read your post yet because I wanted to moan first about it not being in the right place. I'll go and read it now and if I've got anything to offer I might post it, even though your thread is in the wrong place. I think you should be banned.

Totally depends what it's for and what kit is on it. As with everything, certain technology advances so the older bike may have kit on it no better than the newer one. Things like frames tend to change quite a lot as well. It's also hard to post a website before knowing what you need. There is often a bargain on eBay as well.

More cross country biased than kamikaze for now!
I'd seen a shop that was selling top line specialized etc for less then half price because they were 2005 specs.....

Not quite half-price but I bought my got 2004 Specialised in 2005 from here - see the Bargain bikes page for last year's models....
