Hi, your near myself. I guess you can't get the mtb in an elise?! So I guess that limits your riding to closer to home. Do you work at the romford branch btw?

I do indeed work at the Romford branch, and you're right about it being a squeeze to get the bike in the Lotus!

My cousin lives in Danbury funnily enough, have to get him out too!

I don't know how old you are but fitness can always be built back up. I'm 31 and spent years out of the saddle. I used to be fit so I want to return to my previous level. Recently I've been getting into it and training at the gym 3+ times a week, to try and get some form back. I usually do 1hr on the exercise bike, whilst checking out the hardbody babes jogging
Beat's cleaning mud off the bike at this time of year.

I'm only 27 so I'm sure that my fitness levels could be pretty easily brought back up to standard, I'm not overweight so I guess that I'm in with a fighting chance!
You should check out Virgin's gym in chelmsford, near the back of the cricket grounds and new apartments. It's rather smart with a pool, plasmas and totty. Plus lifetime membership never rises, so it'll be a bargain in the future. Top membership is £48mth. Also they have bought Holmes Place so they're all free for members too.
Have you ridden in Danbury woods? There are some fantastic drop offs, jumps and small downhill sections in there.

I used to ride there pretty much every weekend as a kid but have not been there for about 10 years, I've been out of the mtb 'scene' ever since but bought the STS to fulfill a childhood fantasy recently so I'm planning to get back into it again.
I imagine Danbury woods has changed somewhat since I was last there, is treasure island still there?

Make sure you have a lid for Danbury. I went for a full face matt black Bell, for £55. It's as light as some £150 versions, so pretty decent value.
That is sound advice, I'm probably a bit wobblier and less resiliant than I was back in the day!
I was more of an xc kinda guy than a downhiller to be honest, a fear of heights probably didn't help!

I've got a Kona hardtail sitting at home too so would probably use that to ease myself back in!
The good thing about that location is the mix of riders, who all seem pretty friendly. I was amazed some of the things people were doing when I first rolled up, thinking they were mad. A couple of months later I was joining them, to a degree. Some will always be more talented or downright insane! There's still plenty to ride for xc and pure training there too. However I'll not be back until the spring now.
So yesterday was the first PH MTB Meet- well, Steve and I went out for a burn, unfortunately my new bike had several punctures and it seems it arrived that way so I took my dad's old bike which is a tad on the weighty side to say the least!
Good fun but hopefully next time I will have my bike and the wheel won't get so clogged with mud that it won't turn! Oh, and I will actually eat or drink something before I come out and not end up thinking I'm going to die!! lol
Steve, found 3 more pin prick punctures on the original inner tube this morning of my bike. Strange! I will definitely be in touch with the bike shop as I do believe that's 6 punctures in a brand new inner tube that were there when the bike arrived!!
