quick release wheel advice : urgent

First post on this part of PH.
I need some urgent advice.
Is it possible to change a mountain bike (cheap, nothing special) from regular bolts on the front wheel to having a quick release mechanism. I want it so I can put it into the boot of my car.

Someone suggested I should get one of these to do it

Nay. Normally a bolted front wheel will have a solid axle, threaded at each end. So you'll need a new one plus that skewer, and need to swap them over, trying not to loose too many bearings along the way.

Or easier, just pick up a cheap QR front wheel and switch them over.

Cheaper to buy a spanner to remove the wheel, than a new QR wheel, not as much hassle as you think, i do this for the kids bikes and my BMX,
