Wobbly disc rotor?
Discussion
AI am still 'loving Leckhampton woods long time' on my new(ish) bike. However, I am still getting my skills back so am taking it steady and have noticed that when I am using the front brake the power kind of 'modulates' as it would on a car if a disc is warped. I haven't used the bike much at all and have certainly not done anything to warp it through heat and its a bit unerving as I am still getting used to the power of the discs.
This is making the front end lose grip cornering when the warped bit increases braking for a split second. The only things I can think of are either; I have a faulty disc (Avid Juicy 7) or when my mate got a bit carried away and squeezed the brake really hard whilst it was stationary he somehow damaged it? Can discs this thin (but still pretty new) be re-faced?
Also, the bike has Rock Shox Reba SL's and they now feel (and sound) a bit mushy and don't fully lock out so would this be a case of getting a shock pump (or should I get the LBS to do it on the cheap) and pumping air or would it be the adjustment?
Finally, am I the only person in the world who still uses bar-ends and cleats?!

Yes!Discs are far more easily damaged carrying your bike in a car, or bumping it about in the garage. They can be "straightened" if all that is needed is a tweak. Spin the offending wheel in your hands, or a vice, and see if there is an obvious wobble. Tweak with a pair of pliers with some corrugated card to protect the surface.
Can't be refaced as far as I know, but are pretty cheap to replace if it is knackered.
I bent a rear disc not long ago and am pretty sure it happened in the car when the wheel was removed. Tried to straighten it to no avail so ended up replacing it. As mentioned, not too dear
As for the shocks, do Rebas have the Floodgate control? If your lockout's not working it could be because the Floodgate is set for a very light rider and hence allowing air past rather than locking out. Just take a quick tweak of the dial to adjust. Have a read of the user manual for details (can be downloaded from RockShox's site).

All Rebas have an adjustable floodgate control but on the SL's (OE models) there's not an external adjuster - you'd need to read the manual to see how it works.[quote=pdV6 All Rebas have an adjustable floodgate control but on the SL's (OE models) there's not an external adjuster - you'd need to read the manual to see how it works.

Bugger, spose I will read the manual then as they were OE. On lockout I can defo hear a noise and they still move a fair bit and when on half adjustment they have full travel which I guess is wrong?
As for the discs I will have a spin later as back out on it tonight and will see if the wobble.
P.S, I like my bar-ends!
