First Tri Questions
Discussion
Hi all,
I'm shortly going to be starting in my first 'proper', i.e. not in the gym, triathlon. Its at Tatton Park, if you're interested.
I was reading on the website about the No Drafting Rule, and wondered if there are any other rules that I need to be aware of.
I've entered this one in preperation for the London, and I don't want to get kicked out for some rule infringement.
Any pointers, please...?

No drafting.
No helmet - no ride.
No drafting.
Don't get on your bike before the mount line.
No drafting.
Don't be on your bike after the dismount line.
No drafting.
That's about it, really; enjoy it and good luck.
London is a complete bunfight - fine if you like that kind of thing, but not my bag; just too many people.

I think Nick's covered it. At the one I did you needed to have helmet on and done up before you grab the bike to leave transition.
Also, make sure your helmet is still done up, right up until you have placed your bike back on the rack in transition (it's easy to subconsciously get off the bike and start undoing the strap).Make sure you take on LOTS of fluids.

I'm doing the sprint at Tatton Park. So it is a 500m swim around the lake, 20km bike and a 5k run.sjg said:

Thank you for the warning about the helmet strap, guys. I got the 'pack' today. You have to do the strap up, before you can touch your bike, and only undo the strap once you've racked the bike.
Wetsuit compulsory. PIA for just 10 minutes in the water, but don't get over-excited and tear it in transition. Swim hat?
Don't try any clever shoes-already-on-the-bike or barefoot flying dismount stuff - whatever the bloke in front of you does. Unless, of course, you've already practised it all.
Drink on the bike - easy to forget when it's barely half-an-hour.
Have a butchers at TriTalk - there's bound to be a thread there about the event.
