I can only find one in the "show us your bike thread" and little mention of them anywhere else.

So seeing as I got one today, I thought Id post some info up about them: woohoo

German Brand, frames (apparently) made in Germany, mines alu frame with some nice bits which are as follows:

Cube Ltd Race:

Oro K18 disc brakes
XT hubs
XT rear mech
DX/LX shifters
Reba SL shock
Easton seat post and handle bar
And some other good stuff Im not about yet.

Weighs about 25/26lbs

For £830 ~I got the bike, a straight swap of the Easton E30 riser bar for an E30 flat bar, a cateye wireless computer, some alu barends, a topeak saddle bag, multi tool, crud catcher bottel and cage....and thats it I think.

Got the spuds donated, virtually new, had the plastic clip-in platforms donated by the shop.

Picked it up at lunch time and managed to get 20miles in around the New Forest this afternoon.

The bike is exactly what I wanted in terms of a sharp hardtail feel, a reasonable quality shock and good components. It handles well, this is my first Front suspension bike (last rode in anger in about '94!). I compared it to Orange and Specialized and felt this was the best value for money. You cant do better for less than 850 notes I reckon.

Here's a picture of it brand spanking. bounce

Im dead pleased with it after today. It has the feel of a bike thats going hold up to what I can throw at it. Quality item to look at and ride. The brakes are awesome and feel better than the Juicy 3s I tried.

Cant wait to get up to Betwys.

In the meantime, if anyone has suggestions for some technical stuff near Bournemouth (aside from Purbecks - know them well), give me shout.

It's a hardtail so has no shock. FS = Full Suspension.

Cube seem to offer incredible value for money, much like BeOne and Focus they still seem to be trying to break into the UK market and are not properly established yet. This obviously means keener prices for the punter. Keep us posted, it'd be nice to see how it fares over time.

Ahh yes. Shortened "front suspension" to "FS", forgetting the "full suspension" implication. Got to catch up on the jargon obviously!

Ill edit it..

Its old skool I know but I love them. I prefer them for climbing and if Im on the road, I can rest my wrists on the grips and hands along the barends in a faux tri-bar stylee. I just like the extra options you get with them. Had the flat bar fitted specifically so I could use them. Old habits!

Nice Cube, 308mate. I echo your opinion. I have a Stereo, which I'm impressed with.

(Now running Racing Ralphs instead of the Fat Alberts, a 200mm front disc instead of the 180mm, and a 120mm stem)
