Please note this isn't a classifieds ad and therefore please don't remove it, I have a racing bike frame, it is only a raleigh, but not in bad condition, it is one of the old 80-90's raleighs so british made, and the larger brother to another bike I had that I rode non stop from 15-18 yrs old and must have put 5-6k miles on, the geometry is set up more for touring, it is obscenely comfortable, but also capable of being able to be wound up when out of saddle, has mudguard eyes, 700c obviously, 501 tubing, comes with a bb but will need replacing IMO, it would suit a taller person, 6ft plus.

Don't want a penny for it, it won't sell if I put it on ebay, it's worth nothing for scrap being steel, too good to throw but sick of seeing it there and it is a touch large for me although I have ridden it in the past, I can throw a load of period parts in if needed including calipers cranks etc.

If you feel you want to do a swap then I need a braze on front mech for a double (not compact). But free to anyone who will collect.

Oh and colour wise it is white, flourescent pink and black, typical late 80's early 90's reserved colour scheme, would suit a budget daily rider/commuter project.

Any pics (more to savour the 80's colours than a genuine interest I'm afraid)

Oh go on then!wink And a few of the other classic projects I have, apologies about the state of the garage!!

Here's the frame, not mint but will clean up ok, if you can be bothered a quick touch up of the black section could see it in very good condition:

The current frame I'm working on, what do you think?

Probably the next one to be worked on, got a bit conned with this one as it needs a full repaint, but will be very nice when done.

Classic Raleigh record sprint.

And for the quirky how about a Moulton?

that Colnago is sweet.

Are you putting gears on it, or running it singlespeed? What size is it?

I'm up in Newcastle, so it is a bit far for me to come and collect.

What ratio is running on that purple bike? The chainring looks massive.

That colnago may or may not be the real thing, however it is very good quality steel and is indeed stunning!

It will be running geared, I've got a few bits of classic gear that I'm trying to build up in to one bike to get rid of it all really, including a work of art of an old campag rear mech. Just finished building the wheels and waiting for the black and white rubino tyres to arrive!

The Purple bike is a moulton, suspension on the rear, large chainring on the front and sturmey archer in the back, thing is the wheels are so tiny you need the large chainring, the bike itself is strange it is impossibly comfortable to ride, very nice up to about 20mph, so a great tourer, it has the drop bars on it so a nice bike to do distance on, and is geared spot on for road work, yet drop to first and it goes off road very well, don't get me wrong it isn't a downhill or deep mud bike but for clifftops and cycle paths hard to beat plus the quirky factor is brilliant fun!

Let us have some pics of the Colnago once it is finished.

I think that Moulton should be your next project. The Olmo (nice as it is) will have to wait.

Run the Moulton fixed, the chainring on it looks brilliant.

Why on earth run the moulton as fixed when it has perfectly satisfactory gears lol!

Must be honest I don't get the whole fixie obsession, god gave us gears for a reason I intend to use them!

The Moulton really wants a sympathetic restoration, complete respray and re decal, followed by a rechrome of original parts, trouble is they are going up in price now so it's hard to get your hands on a good one like this, I just enjoy it, it's really my old mans bike.

Think of all those hours of your life you have wasted tinkering with gears. All the £££ on bits that wear out.

1 chainring, 1 rear cog, 1 chain. Simple (maybe for simple people)

no shifters, no cables, no casettes, no derailleurs smile
