Component sourcing - small batch of recumbents 10-0ff.
Discussion
Hello all,
For a while I have had an idea for a frame on a recumbent, that I am itching to do. I would like to make up say 10-off of these, so need to source components for these. The general engineering on the geometry I can find and use my usual suppliers as on the wheeling machines I make, but it would be good to find a suitable supplier of standard budget components. I would like to use up to date products, on these units too. Any locations to visit, or contacts in the cycling world would be appreciated.
Intentions are to use Grip shift, disk brakes on 24” rear wheel, and 20” front. Ackerman steering.

The XT groupset was purely an example. They would be my first port of call. Then the importers directly. Afterall, why not take advantage of someone else's buying power?
It would be worth checking out Wiggle and CRC too. I know Wiggle offer discounts for regular spenders (£500 plus a year). And CRC have great prices all the time.

Slightly off topic, have you thought about the legal aspects - eg compliance with the relevant BSs and legal arse covering?
We started a now still born project to build a magnesium freeride Tandem frame (made by the same company that made the Saracen Mg frames). The frame design was a doddle compared to the all the legal stuff. The lesson we learnt was don't deal with the Russians

Yes - This will need to be done, the have the details in a hope that I can make it work.
I am looking into the design of the recumbent, and spending large amounts of my time drawing standard cycle parts in 3D.
There are many sites for sharing 3D file formats, but none have up to date standard components.
If the manufacturers of these parts made the 3D files available, this would be beneficial to many bike builders.
Has anyone ever had access to these files?
I am using AutoDesk’s Inventor program.
