My 'XC' bike (2006 Spesh Endruo Expert) cost £2200 back in 2006 and it's worth every penny. I LOVE it. OK, not the greatest climbing machine in the world but the stuff it lets me get away with on the way back down.

My DH bike cost me about £4k a few months back, to my mind it's prefect. I love it like a pet. TBH though I think I spent too much, but it was a bonus day blow-out and I intend to keep it a good few years.

About £300, but I spent about as much again on 'upgrades' which may not be the most sensible thing to do, I did however build another bike with the leftovers and a few new parts. So I got two bikes for the price of, well err.... two (or more) bikes confused

Getting my £1000 bike via Cycle to Work so all in I'll be paying about £650. As it's a Boardman bike which is already great value, I reckon I've done really well.

My most expensive bike is the Cove Stiffee, costing somewhere in the region of £1700. All in i do think it is worth it though.

Crikey! Either you ride like a girl or I abuse my bike too much biggrin The only original parts from my Avalanche 2.0 (bought in 2006) are the frame, seat post, stem and handle bars. I've replaced EVERYTHING else, and some items twice eek

I've had several 'cheap' bikes in the past, recently shelled out on a couple of dream machines.
And I can categorically say 'yes' they are worth it - such a difference in terms of lighness, comfort, speed and responsiveness!

My Yeti asr build cost me £3750 and has been worth every penny so far,I spec'd it exactly as I wanted it so there is nothing I want to upgrade on it so i'll be keeping it or many years to come.My cannondale road bike was £1250 which at the moment was the best £1250 I've ever spent.Although I can see me upgrading that in a year or two for a Litespeed

Bought Time Edge First frame and built it up for a total of about £2500 (Ksyrium ES, carbon Campy, carbon everything else!). It's a beautiful bike and I love riding it. Definitely worth the money. When riding off the peg £1000 or for that matter £2000 road bikes, my Time really shows it's class. Built without compromises with no nead to upgrade as it's exactly as I wanted it.

My 750 quid ribble road bike was very poor vlue for money, and ribble were rubbish at sorting problems/complaints out. I'll never touch another. My 350 quid specialised mountain bike gives me miles more smiles to the pound even though it's a relative cheapie in this thread.

No idea, rolling budget smile It's a gradual process, never specced a whole bike from scrach, when things get upgraded they get passed down the bike chain or end up on ebay, so the top bike cost a lot more than it is worth, but at least 2 bikes have been mostly built out of the redundant parts over the years.

I've a £900 Orange for hitting the mountain, and a £250ish singlespeed On-One built from bits out of the spare parts bin for the commute.

My P7 cost me £550 three years ago - £200 off list.

I'm getting very tempted to splash out on a new XT drivetrain and some replacement shocks which will probably be around another £500 but I reckon it's worth it (the wife may need some convincing though wink)
