Depends on what you're using them for. There will be far better alternatives for commuting, but for their intended purpose I bet they're great.

yeah, i ahve em, in a 24" tho (would sell you if you wanted 24 but your after 26 i would imagine)
they are damn heavy tires, and are only usefull in a dual ply, single ply jsut puncture.

commuting you want something like kevlar weave continentals contact sports for example.

this is not just coming from a know it all, i am a cycles mechanic, and have been building and riding bikes for a long time, so i know what im on about

dont get those if would want to commute

end of

ETA: you want these http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Models.aspx?Mod...
no ifs, or buts, they are a commuter tire plain and simple.

Whilst we're on the topic of road tyres, what do people think of these:

for road/cycle/tow path use? They seem very cheap and would save me wearing down my trail tyres during the week when I'm just cycling paths to keep the fitness up for the weekends.

Thing is, I'm not a commuter, but I'd like a set of tyres that would feel nicer on the road (opposed to knobblies), look good and grip well.

The Hookworms, at least to my untrained eye, seem to fit the bill on these counts.

and I've found them for £18 each online - seems like a no brainer to me. Or is it? That's why I'm posting on here!

Edit: Bloody hell, good call Moose! Never saw them on CR.

The Hookworms do look good and running them at the max 110psi eek they will be fast.

Depends what riding you're doing. If it's just mucking around on the street then it should be fine. If it's riding to and from places - not specifically commuting - then I'd say you'd need something with some puncture protection in it. I wouldn't like to tru and pump up a 2.5 to 110psi at the roadside. TBH it'd be a chore with a track pump.

I use Schwalbe's excellent Marathon Plus. They are nearly bomb proof - I've riden them on the chalk / flint of the North Downs way without problems. And on tarmac for my commute. In addition to their puncture protection they have a continuous reflective band on both sidewalls which is a great safety bonus.

They would be pats for 'street' riding though.
