Had an Orange delivered recently and the first thing I did was upgrade from Sram to Shimano
I have used Sram, but prefer the feel of Shimano, it's a personal choice really, operationally there similar it's down to what you prefer or what you have standardised on across your bikes.
I run Shimano on other bikes and my spares are Shimano so it's an easy choice for me.

I assume you understand that the choice is XT Mech/Shimano Shifter or X9 Mech/SRAM Shifter ?
I tried SRAM and hated it in comparison to XT.
Tried SRAM a second time and loved it. You have to get used to the SRAM push/push gearshift before you can judge it. Going back to Shimano felt massively wrong.
I have X0/X9 on one bike, and a shimano shifter/SRAM shifter mix on my commuter s
g. I view SRAM as a massive upgrade on Shimano, but it's going to be a personal thing, due to the shift philosophy.

I had shimano on my bike the bought a new bike with sram on and loved it and i have never looked back. I dont know how shimano feel these days as i have used sram for the last 3+ years now but i are not in any rush to change from sram. Thats just my prefrence.
