Looking into campsites near Coed Y Brenin, Wharncliffe Woods, Grizedale Forest and Whinlatter Forest that would be open around the start of october, obviously there is Google, but was wondering if anyone had any recommendations, as near to the riding as possible :-) .

I've always stayed at Old coniston hall campsite when i've been the lakes and grizedale. Its got good clean facilities, is well priced (think it was £6 per person and something like £2 per car) and its right next to the lake where you can chill with a beer in the evening. They dont like big groups of people tho, especially if they get the impression you may be a nuisance, so if you are big group but well behaved, it may be best to book/arrive seperatly. Not sure when its open until, but most places are open until the end of October.

Have a good trip and pack your waterproofs!

There is a campsite at Hawkshead, very close to Grizedale.
They have a website, the place is called The Croft.

catbells near keswick is nice, clean and cheap.
http://www.lakelandcampingbarns.co.uk/barnview.asp... has a cooking area but they will do breakfats to order...

in snowdon we stay at the snowdon inn campsite as its about a mile wlk from the pub and they do good food and nice real ales. only ever been treking from there so couldnt comment on its suitablility for cycling but it has good facilities and is quite cheap.
