posting a bike
Discussion
I've never sent a complete bike but I have sold plenty of components and used these guys each time for the larger items like frames and forks. http://www.senditnow.com/
They are part of the Parcelforce group which a lot of people moan about about but I haven't had any issues with these guys.

Nervy - What's up with your new steed?
I've been advised not to say until the matter is resolved.chris said:
As for posting a bike, I got a box from my local bike shop and used the royal mail. I had a bit of hassle from the woman in the PO saying the box was too big but you can arrange a pickup online. Worked for me...
excellent, thanks Chris.sadly, I dont think Im going to be able to go- Im going to struggle to sort another bike now as Im away to Naples in two days, then am supposed to be off to the 'ring the day after I return (albeit in a car that chose to mysteriously quit on sunday, which looks like it wont be fixed in time).
I'm genuinley gutted.

You've not had much luck then recently! I'm genuinley gutted.
If you want to take a trip up to check out the riding (its a mission i know!) anyway, you're welcome to have a go on my bike for a run or two
I've done it a few times by getting a bike box from halfords, then doing a standard parcel with the post office. Costs £15ish. Ignore whatever they say about it being oversize - they are wrong. Small post offices get moody 'cos they have nowhere to store the boxes until the van comes, so it's a pain in the arse for them.
The rule is "Parcels must be no longer than 1.5 metres, and the combined length and girth of your item must not exceed 3m."

Thats exactly why the Post Office got arsey with me, just because it was inconvenient for them. The rule is "Parcels must be no longer than 1.5 metres, and the combined length and girth of your item must not exceed 3m."
Nervy - I understand, I'd be the same. The offers there though!

ok, the post office and parcel force are saying that its too big as a package, given that it's 149cms long, 80cms high and 25 cm's across.
Anyone else got any ideas for folks who can handle a package that's clearly this overwhelmingly massive?
