Does anyone know how to tell different types of the same variety of tyre? I mean, whether its 2-ply, or what compound a tyre is made of. I've got some Minions I'm trying to off, and keep getting questions about this but can't see any markings. Didn't buy the tyres as they came with the bike, but just don't use them.

Cheers in advance.

Should say on the tyre really - but you'll know if you have single ply - you can easily bend the bead - dual ply is tough as hob nail boots.

What size etc are your minions - I need a front possibly?

Thanks - I'm guessing then that these are single ply. I'm looking for about 10 quid for the front tyre, but I reckon postage is gonna be a killer!!!

2 Ply are the full on thick walled DH competition worthy tyre... And weigh quite a lot.

Single Ply will feature the same tread pattern, and the same widths, but have a much thinner casing, which means they're lighter (though still not lightweight) and more prone to punctures, hence aren't as worthy as a DH competition tyre...

2 Ply are more expensive too...
