Which car / van

I know we have alot of these threads on the general forums but bear with me please. Having stuffed 2 mountain bikes and 2 blokes into a 5 door fiat punto (old type) got me thinking maybe just maybe I could yo with a better vehicle. So I was thinking a cheap reliable van / people carrier / estate car or would you go for a trailer or bike rack instead?

Bike rack is probably the cheapest option - either boot or roof.

Van! Throw the bikes in and not give two hoots about how clean the interior is(n't) or how muddy the bikes are. Plus they're more secure than a bike rack...
