So after a fairly boozy Saturday (twas my birthday you see), Mr Bolton dragged my sorry carcass out on the bikes this afternoon.

Off we went to Stillwood where i proceeded to bumble around like a pansy while Mr B got his ride on. Two big jumps were sessioned, the first being the one pictured below over a berm and then a really quite serious gap jump at the bottom of the forest. A good 25ft with no get out if you didnt commit.

Here's a couple of shots of Neil on the first (smaller) jump...

Nice.

Big Air!

All set for the 25th then.

That looks like a Commencal.

That tree might "get it" if it keeps standing in the way.

Where is Stillwood by the way?

Looking forward to seeing the gap.

Neil's got some good video so i'm sure there will be a youtube link to follow.

Stillwood is not far from Bristol, near LongAshton. I need to go back with out a hangover and a set of balls and join in the fun smile

Afternoon all smile

I'm enjoying a well earned cup o' tea right now, but will endevour to get the vids etc uploaded - and I'll be doing a little review on the Commy 4x too now I've run her in a little:

She certainly jumps incredibly well, and much more capable than 100mm would suggest...

Good days riding to top off a cracking with weekend with our Moonie - happy birthday chap smile

Just been hitting it again tonight: One thing I must remember - pull the front up and don't get lazy, as dropping the front wheel in leads to slightly interesting 'moments'.

As is, all is ok, and the girlfriend, who very nicely came to watch, is impressed (and expressed concern at my lack of padding).

I've always maintained that crashing something that big, no amount of armour will help bones breaking...

I'm no good at all that kind of stuff - I tend to enjoy pounding the pedals and just staying on the ground. A good 5 mile slog up a hill is what I enjoy smile

Regardless, on part of my route we pass through an old railway station, with the platform intact. The drop off the edge to the floor is about 2 feet and I want to jump off it.

How best to approach such a thing? Personally I reckon enough speed and a bunny hop would do it, but I'm terrified of landing on the front wheel first.

That's the station.

POD - a small pull-up on the bars as the front wheel goes over the edge, lean back and let the back wheel just drop off the edge. You'll land rear wheel first fine but practice by riding off kerbs and getting the front wheel up.

yes Just roll it at first, get air later once you're comfortable with the drop.

Yep! Also, where the platform starts to rise at the left hand side of the photo, start by dropping off the lower bits and then gradually working your way up.

or MTFU and go for it wink

Where's that? It looks like the Monsall Trail in Derbyshire.

Well, its all got far too informal for my liking around these parts. Need to keep some standards, you know!
