I know this is sad, but I know the weight of my hubs and rims, but not the wheel weight. I can't be bothered stripping the cassette, tyres and tubes off and weighing, because presumably all I need is the weight of the spokes (DT Swiss 14g and 15g respectively) and nipples, assume basic on all counts. 700c wheels.

I'm trying to see how much weight I can potentially save with a set of Reynolds Solitaires, and I think it will be quite a bit, but the more I am going to save, the more likely it is I am going to buy them!

So how much for a spoke and how much for a nipple (oo-er)

It isn't much. Certainly less than the hub. Weigh the wheel, and subtract the weight of what you do know from that figure. Then divide by the number of spokes.

You say its not much, but even a spoke was say 6g each, and there were 32, that would be nearly 200g a wheel, plus nipples.

I suppose if I gave the front wheel a good clean and stripped it down, and did as you say, I can apply the same formula to the rear wheel, although I assume a 15 gauge spoke is heavier than a 14 gauge?

actually, vice versa, just noted a 14g is 2mm whereas a 15g is 1.8mm.
