I want to replace my almost broken, bent and worn out (but fixed many times), LX front mech. Since I have an XTR rear mech, I've decided to replace it with an XTR front mech so they are matched up.

However after a little hunting on CRC and Wiggle, I've noticed there are two models and I've no idea which to choose. I know the M971 is the newer version but the M970 is €10 more....

M971 Mech

M970 Mech

Just for reference, I have an M952 XTR rear mech which looks like this:

Cheers,

First one is top swing,

Next is bottom swing

Next is E-type.

You need to know which type your frame requires, there all different fitments.

Hint. Buy XT.

XTR front mech is a lot of money for something that is pretty straightforwards, unlike the rear mech/shifters.

Cheers for the feedback. The pics were just for reference. I need a frame mount 34.9 clamp top swing dual pull mech.

Looking at the XT mechs from CRC, which should I get?

I need a 34.9 clamp but they seem to both offer a variable clamp size all working with a 34.9 tube. Which should I get???? confused

The one thats in stock will work.

They use shims these days for the smaller sizes thats all, they work fine and dont slip once there fitted.
