In early August I had quite a "big one" coming down Darkside, at the end of White's Level, Afan. Rather mangled shoulder, broken clavicle in 2 places, air ambulance, and a nice metal plate put in there a month later because it was not healing properly. Last Monday I got the OK to drive again bounce and get back on my road bike again woohoo.

I did not know how it would feel but I did a nice gentle 25 mile loop with the other half and some mates, and whilst the wind could have been a bit kinder, it felt just awesome to be back out there again having done absolutely no exercise and no riding for months. There's a teeny ache in my shoulder today which pales into insignificance in comparison to my arse! weeping

Doc has advised me to stay off my MTB for another month or so as it's only soft stuff in between the broken bits at the moment, so as not to tempt fate I probably won't ride my MTB until after I've been skiing in Jan, but I felt I just had to share what a fkING AWESOME ride I had yesterday with other like minded people!

Great to be back!!

Glad to hear you're back on the bike, and good for you for getting out there as soon as you can.

Have you got access to a turbo trainer, or perhaps a spin bike at a gym so you can get the fitness back up while waiting for the shouler to strengthen up and become MTB ready? I broke my shoulder a little over a year ago and by using the spin bike was at least able to keep the legs/bum used to the stresses and strains without damaging the shoulder any more.
