Great start to the week......

.....riding to work on the stumpy as I felt like it.....took a jump off a small wall and my pedals slipped. Look down and my chain had snapped tearing off the rear derailleur hanger.
Not impressed....and it screws up this weekends riding as there is no chance to get a new hanger for then. Pissed off to say the least.

Now updated with a pic to make it a little more interesting.

Ranting by myself....ho-hum.....
Another major let-down. Turns out the bike was damaged worse than I though and cost a unsightly total of €140 to fix.
The chain-rings needed replacing, the rear mech broke and needed spare parts. The chain needed fixing and the last bike shop that serviced my bike did such a shoddy job on the gears they needed re-adjusting but thankfully there was no damage.
All in all.....€75 for chainrings, €25 for chain, €15 for a rear hanger and the rest on labour.

But on the bright side (and to help you out of the embarrassing situation of being the only contributor to a three post thread!) at least yor weekend riding is back on!
I'm out there 100%! Not a chance I've spend over 100 quid and I'm not going to use it......bloody stupid thing!snotrag said:
You could easily have a hanger by Thursday? Local dealer will have them, I know we do. And lots of places online will get you one sent out? Itsacommon part. Hint - buy two.
All sorted now. I found a dealer in Vienna that had them in stock. I'll never go back to the place I bought the bike from. The new place I found are more pricey but they seem to know what they are doing and were quite happy for me to stand and watch in the workshop while he did all the necessary work.www.mountainbiker.at

yup, didn't readproperly. Still, my advice to carry a spare hanger still stands!
I didn't realise they break so often. That was my very first hanger to go and I've given my stumpy some pretty serious poundings.....In all honesty, I should really be riding an Enduro but no chance of that right now.Gassing Station | Pedal Powered | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
