I am planning on getting a Thomson seatpost, and notice that the layback is available in a 7° or 10°. Does anyone know what gives you the nearest clamp position to a standard seatpost, where the clamp is not in-line?

I would assume 7degree. As I think thats the angle of the layback. So 7 is a narrower angle than the 10.

BTW... Thomson posts seem to instantly drop to £40ish on the second hand market. Try singletrackworld.com and chuck up a wanted ad in their ancient but pretty effective classifieds section. Better than £70 anyway!

Edit - ah hang on. You mean which Thomson gives the same clamping position as say this...

In which case... no clue! Give a decent shop a call and ask them to measure the effective layback?

Or just run your saddle further back in the clamp?
