Anyone know their Colnagos/carbon frames?
Discussion
I've been offered the frame below with all the parts shown attached (so a bike then) for a very fair price, in fact it's cheap.
He claims it to be a Colnago, if so it is cheap, if not it isn't particularly, especially considering most of the other parts are unbranded/cheap. The fact the rest of the bits are cheap makes me very suspicious as does the lack of stickers or noticable Colnago markings, there aren't even any clubs moulded in to the drop outs.
I do have the serial number YQ6D11368L.
The frame is part alloy with the front forks and rear triangle being carbon. I know carbon frames can be dodgy with age, I'm prepared to take the chance here, but won't buy it if it is fake.

http://www.airevalleycycles.com/ give these guys a call and get their opinion. they are most likely the nearest colnago dealer to you.
when i first replied i couldnt see the pictures, now having seen them i agree with the other chap, there is no way that is a colnago if for no other reason than those wheels would not be fit to grace a Raleigh let alone a Colnago!
all the geometry looks wrong and the forks look cheap. the chain stays dont look too good at the bottom bracket either.

I thought the same so turned it down this morning.
While the guy has reduced his asking price (down from £200 to £150) to a reasonable price for a non colnago the whole look of the bike isn't great and I have no desire for a cheapo chines frame with cheapo components no matter what it's made of. I also don't deal with people who try to pull fast ones!

To be honest, whatever the make of that frame it has been built up with some seriously sub standard components, makes you wonder if it's been put together out of nicked bits. no-one would put a 20 year old steel cup and cone bracket in a frame with a carbon rear end. to me, that's a ceapish racing frame built up with bits from a £100 raleigh special.
