Does anyone here do a rolling up grade on their machine - gradually replacing components after a short while, either putting the old stuff in a drwaer for later or selling it on Ebay.

That way the machine is always in good nick and it does not come as a shock when stuff wears out.

Yep.. do that all the time. Yea its expensive but the same logic (or lack LOL) applies to modding cars i guess.. certainly guilty of that here on PH.

Save 'em and chuck em on some other project bike down the line..winter hack, used steel frame or something that takes your fancy

I do, kind of. Had the bike nearly 18 months. Pedals went first, then forks, then bottom bracket & crank, then rear mech. The BB was the only thing that really needed doing. The way I see it, I can only afford bits at a time, so a whole new bike is not really an option. So if I get new parts, they can be put on to a new frame eventually.

Oh yeah, brakes next! hehe

Just make sure you actually have a frame that worth while upgrading. A pig iron frame will still ride like a pig iron frame even when draped in bling.
