Hi all,

Having ridden in spd road shoes for a long time, I'm going to start doing a bit of mtbing and would like to start off with spd shoes. My road shoes are specialized and I get on well with them so would be keen to stick to specialized although not adverse to change. What would people recommend for a decent mtb shoe - looking to spend about £50. Are there any places that a bargain can be had?

I know these are shimano but are they any good? :

Thanks, Arry

Stick with what you know - I've used various shoes, my current ones are Specialized Taho's. Fit me well as there nice and wide, with BG insoles. Plenty stiff enough for MTBingm but importantly not too plastic fantastic and there easy to walk/hike-a-bike in. Recommended.

RRP is £60.

ETA - the BG sport is the more traditional XC type model for the same money - stiffer, but less forgiving and harder to walk in.

Looks like it's specialized then! I love my current road shoes and I suppose, if they fit and are comfy, why change the make? Currently looking at the BG Sports for £56 unless I can manage to find some discounted BG Experts (50% off but not sure if they sell my size or not frown)

Ok, so I have a confession.....I saw some BG Experts for £70 so bought those instead, fit seems better than the Sports that I tried on in a shop (didn't try the Experts because they were listed as £100 in the shop) so all good, now all I need is a mountain bike hehe

Bike shop online needs my delivery address to be my card address and being a student and moving every year, it wasn't, so having to wait for the bank to change the details on my card frown

SixSixOne's last well against teh harhser mud and ste conditions. Had mine for over 2 years and have yet to show sign of falling apart.

Good price too usually.
