Hi all,

I want to move to flat bars with bar ends from riser bars but I do not want to go any less wide than my (fairly narrow) risers.

I want 600mm plus space for bar end clamps.

They must be light.

I am not bothered about cost (within reason - i.e. not the £300+ combo bar stems)

Carbon is ok I think, unless someone knows otherwise.

Thoughts?

just had a quick look on a couple of sites and i think your going to struggle for the width. Looking atthe big manafactureres, Kore Easton FAS And raceface only one of them does a 600mm wide bar the rest only do about 560-580mm. So the widest and lightest you i found is http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Models.aspx?Mod...

That was largely the verdict that I had reached. Just wondered if someone knew better.

Have just bought an FSA K-Force Carbon XC Flat Bar from CRC for £35 down from £85 in their flood sale. 25mm to match my stem, 600mm and a claimed 118 grams.

Thanks for looking for me,

Jon

Also this in the Flood sale. I would be buying them if the 31.8mm dia bars were in the sale!

ETA. You've already bagged yourself a bargain! Unfortunately my stem is 31,8mm.

I have a flat 30" wide trials bar that I got from Tarty Bikes website - http://www.tartybikes.co.uk/

I have a very low rise 29" riser that I prefer though.

Be warned though, flat bars increase the risk of giving yourself a back injury if they make a big difference in height between the seat and bar. I speak form painful personal experience.

At the moment I have negative rise on my stem & only low risers so with a flip of the stem and moving a spacer I think the height will be the same.

This is why I am making the change. Risers do not offer any benefit to me and just weigh more and limit light mounting options etc.

I want to get weight off the front of my bike as it is too heavy.

Thanks all,

Jon
