What fork for my Identiti?

Happy new year all.
In preparation for the forthcoming summers fun, I'm plotting some improvements to my Dr Jekyll.
Currently the bike wears a pair of Dirt Jumpers that I would like to replace with something strong, yet hopefully slightly lighter, and with longer travel - DJs are made of lead, and hardly the last word in plush travel.
I'm planning to use the bike for slightly rougher trail jumps and some DH riding and would like a longer travel fork to cope with this. I appreciate that going too long would adversely effect the geometry, however how long could/should I go? Upto 6" was what I was thinking.
I'm currently running normal hubs with QRs, but would consider a change to 20mm if that was necessary.
I'm not planning to shell out gazillions by buying new, and will be trawling ebay and the 2008 sales for a good deal on something .... Obviously it would be very wrong for people to recommend something that they had in their cupboard that might be surplace to requirements.

I'd say a set of coil Pikes. They're 140mm travel - 5.65-inches - although I'd try and find a '454' set that are the lightest version. Send 'em to TFT to get them 'Pushed' and the correct spring fitted. You'll then have a set of forks that'll be hammer proof. With the U-Turn facility you can adjust the travel down to 85mm (3.7-inches).
Alternatively, a set of Fox Vanilla's. The 32's run up to 140mm but don't have the bolt through option until now - the 15mm variety. They are very plush too. The 36's do have a 20mm bolt through but will need to be set to 150mm (6-inches). The 36's are very plush and still rideable XC.
