Excellent, we'll have to meet up when we're there.

Do you or anyone else fancy a Cwmcarn day in the near future?

Mega isn't my thing, but I'll be in the Morzine the week after, riding around.

But happy to do another Cwn Carn visit, will only bring the full sus this time and try not to stack it at the end!!

We'll be in Morzine from the 11th to the 25th of July this year. Not sure when the Mega is, but it's not for me.

Another CC visit would be good. I'll try to be a bit more social this time and not force anyone off the track (can't find a little smiley face that embarassed, but I was).

hehe It doesn't get any easier as you go, you just know whats coming up and where you're likely to die...

Tip on snow: The faster you go, the more grip and control you get. Plus it scares the st out of you...

You can't book early unless you go private, which is unlikely as its all done through the main tourism office.

Booking starts in March, April, I think (based on my being told so by the tourism lady Issabelle - who is hot btw! (I have an email address if needed)).

Its gonna be expensive this year becuase of the euro/pound palarity, so the days of a cheap chalet are gone frown

It may be worth considering staying in Oz d'Oizans, as its quieter, nicer and still got a lift to the main tracks.

I'd like to do this but I don't think I'm quite fit enough, I reckon lose a couple of stones and I'd be there. I can easily manage 20 miles in a day, every day, but in the last couple of months I don't think I've done more than 20-30 miles a week.

I dont think fitness comes into it much. Im not particularly fit but i've got some pretty good results and times in it(best is an hour dead). Its a mental game, im sure I climbed some of those hills on just willpower alone. If you're a competitive person you'll love it.

I'm not really that competitive - in my road riding days I never bothered with clubs or organised rides. I tend to enjoy the feelings associated with cycling - the fresh air, the sense that your body is in good shape (well, underneath the layer of fat), the feeling you get when you push hard and you find yourself not particularly tired, and just the plain old attraction of a well sorted bike underneath you making slick oily metal sounds...

I do though want to do the 'hit the north' thing around my neck of the woods this year.

Neil, as our resident Mega expert smile My mates coming with me but isnt doing the mega, what does he do about lift passes, is there a cheaper way to do it rather than booking through the normal websites?
