Cove Hustler / Yeti 575 Build.
Discussion
I am heading off to a LBS with the veiw of ordering up one of the above bikes tomorrow, basically building it from a "doner" bike (if it works out!) will almost be within a decent budget.
The spec seems pretty good which is basically;
Fork - Fox 32 Float RL 140mm
Headset - TH-857 1 1/8" Threadless
Rear Hub - Hope XC, 32 Hole Disc
Front Hub - Hope XC, 32 Holw Disc
Spokes - DT 15 Gauge Black Stainless
Rims - DT E540, Double Wall, 32 Hole Disc
Tire - WTB Moto Raptor 2.24 (52/54) Race 26"x2.24"
Shift Levers - Shimano LX, With 2 Way Release
Front Derailleur - Shimano Deore
Rear Derailleur - Shimano XT
Cassette - SRAM PG-970, Power Glide II, 9 Speed, 11-34
Chain - Shimano HG-53
Crankset - TruVativ Style 2.0 AM, 4mm All Mountain Bash Guard, 36/24 Chainring, Giga X Pipe Drive Exterior BB System
Bottom Bracket - Giga X Pipe Drive Intergrated with Crankset
Bar - FSA Maximus, Double Butted Alloy, OS-31.8mm 40mm Rise
Stem - Gravity FR200 OS Threadless with Alloy Face Plate, with 31.8mm Bar Clamp
Grips - WTB MotoTec Locking Drop Guard End Plugs
Brakes - Avid Juicy 5 Hydraulics Disc
Pedals - Crank Bros Acid
Just wondering what peoples thoughts are on the spec and if there is anything worth upgrading straight away? I am trying to build to a budget with the possibility of upgrading at a later date...
I have heard / read good reveiws on both frames but just wondered what peoples thoughts are on the two?
Any help / advice much appreciated.

Mmmmm yeti 575 , just got myself one - love it. Hold both frames side by side and the quality of the yeti shines out , not that I don't like Coves I've got one also. As always though riding style has to be taken into account as I'd say that the cove MAY tend towards the more jumpy freeridie type of riding I could be wrong just my thoughts.

Thanks, I have heard only good things about both bikes and from what I gather are both good around trails which is what it'll be used for.....Another 575 rider - not ridden the Cove, so can't comment on that. Love the Yeti - great XC bike and very comfortable for all-dayers - 9.5 hours and 130km is most so far.
My spec is probably a level or so up from the one you're proposing, though forks are the same, but you'll be fine starting with what you've got and upgrading along the way, which is what I've done. Biggest difference for me was getting a better wheelset - Mavic X717 laced to Hope Pro2 - made a big difference to the standard fit. After two years the only things the same as when I bought it are the stem and the forks.
But stuff'll break and wear out - upgrade then if you can't afford to now. Best to just get it all together and get riding.

Its Done!
Will be picking up the Hustler next week......

It was the bike I originally wanted which is why I went for it! (and slightly cheaper!)
It's a Matt Black frame and is being built from this doner bike;

The frame / Shock will be on Ebay once its done.
Can't wait!

Nice that's one more of us, one less of them (in the Cove Clan ha ha)
Looks a pretty good spec, I'd bin the chainset though, I had two Truitive ones that came OE on differnt bikes and they gave me nothing but problems (they were Stylo's though) and get an XT / SLX.
Thanks are they a fairly striaght forward swap over? (Basic tools?) or should I see if they can do a deal now?Looks a pretty good spec, I'd bin the chainset though, I had two Truitive ones that came OE on differnt bikes and they gave me nothing but problems (they were Stylo's though) and get an XT / SLX.
I am already at the high end of my budget so don't want to spend more money right now.....
I don't mind swapping them over in 6months - a years time if they do cause problems!
