Disc brakes, should they squeak?

Hi, got a new Lapierre pro race 300 last week, great bike, very happy with it!

Only problem is under breaking it's really quite noisy. Is this normal?

Have the pads bedded in yet? You should have had a good long run with some good downhills to wear them in. I'm not familiar with formula brakes, from what I have read the k18's are fitted with organic pads, they tend to squeal.
Check if the disc and pads aren't contaminated with any oil or gunk. Check the pads are aligned.

If your still not happy get sintered pads. Nice bike BTW.

Ha, actually they aren't organic pads but semi metallic.

Thanks mate, cracking bike, really glad I went for it.

Funnilly enough it was very quiet when I first picked it up, checked the discs today, no oil or grease at all, bit weird tbh.

Never had anything like it with my downhills

My new discs went through a period of squeaking, I realigned them, did a few hard stops and it appears to have dissapeared now so try that.....

I find that the squeeking only lasts for a mile or so until the brakes warm up ... Taking the bike off of the roofrack after it has been exposed to 70mph wind chill in zero ambient degrees tends to cool the discs quite a bit, and a few hard stops are required to stop the squeal

Cover them in really gritty, wet mud and then go a do a few long decents to get them nice and hot, then douse.
Another thing to check, just in case, is that the stainless steel springy thing that goes between the pads has been fitted.

Put a dab of copperslip between the pad and the piston/caliper.
