Morning,

Pretty new to riding, well, apart from the usual kid stuff anyway....

Got myself a cheap (compared to some of what you guys ride anyway!) MTB last year, and i've done a few 10-12mile rides down the Leeds-Liverpool canal etc, which is a bit too easy tbh, now i'm not fit or anything, but there's only the 5 rise locks that really hurts, the rest is a bit too steady going....

Does anyone know of any good off road places to ride in and around Leeds/Bradford area?

Also, are there any good cycling formums/websites? the only ones i seem to find are either far too extreme/downhill related, or road orientated....

Thanks in advance.....

Have you googled for a local club? We've got a local club that has a crappy website, but does list all their rides with OS maps and the routes overlaid.

Also, try your local bikeshop. The chap across from work knows a lot of decent rides and is happy to write them out.

Re: the buying stuff...tell me about it. My LBS are right across the road from work. I actually look into the shop front from my desk. I'm under the impression that I'm single handily supporting them through this recession.

Re: The honda bit: almost all of them. Especially ones with Type and R on their rump.

Isn't the banter just a bunch of sad f*ckers being smug because they 'raced' somebody on a road bike?

Depends on your point of view and whether you actaully read that particular thread.

On the other hand, who overtook you then?

www.singletrackworld.co.uk is a very good site with an active forum. Quite a lot of members in your area.

I actually live and work in Leeds (EBC in Chapel Allerton) so know a bit of riding round the area.

I could give you some hints if you want to PM me, or could possibly meet up for a ride at some point? Depends what kind of terrain your looking for.
