Can anyone recommended anywhere in Essex that can give my Kona M/B a service and sort out other some bits and pieces. Chelmsford area ideally but open to options.

Thanks in advance

There's a good bike shop in Chelmsford, near the cricket ground that's split into two - a road shop and, on the other side of the road, an MTB shop. Chelmer Cycles?

They're not cheap, but they're good.

Thanks Chris. I've just called them but they are booked up for few weeks, which at least shows they are good

A bit further up the A12 but I would recommend Thomas's Cycle Revolution in Colchester, I have been using them for the last couple of years with no complaints. (Other than being a customer I have no connection to them).

Another one is Herongate Cycles, they seem to be good to and the guy who runs it is involved in some very high level competition (on the olympic cross country comittee or something IIRC).

Chelmer Cycles are very VERY good, and well worth any wait. Hell, I live 20 miles away and would happily drive there for chain lube. Decent guys who know their stuff and do a damn good job.

Thanks chaps. I may just muddle around on it for now and put it on the Chelmer Cycles waiting list.

Great fella, always willing to help me out,

If you go to chelmer cycles take his advice with a pinch of salt and make sure your credit card has plenty of space on it! i'll garuntee it will need new brake pads no matter if there brand new!

To counter that claim, I've had just the opposite with Chelmer Cycles, with them recommending that work need *not* be done upon my asking. "Save your money until something really does need doing..." were their words.

And their prices are OK, IMO. (Sometimes!) CRC can be cheaper, but then again I'm happier paying a few quid more knowing it's going to a good place "down the road" (-ish, for me!) rather than some all-conquering internet shop, and getting such damn good service in the process smile
