I need a pair, pronto but I've no idea where to start.

I don't use SPD's but it's always handy if they're "upgradable"....

Recommendations?

Looked at those but they don't seem to have enough "sole" for my platforms.

I was thinking more this type, but maybe I'm totally wrong....suggestions?

If you're only thinking about changing over the the dark side of SPD's, get a pair of FiveTens. They really are Magic.

5.10's then, accept no substitute. They look a little "special needs" but you can pay the extra for flashier colours and superstar rider endorsements if you wish. I've just about worn out the soles on mine now after a year (they don't last long if you walk around in them pre/post ride) but the upper are still fine so I'm having them resoled ready for Morzine and Whistler in summer.
