Right chaps. After much effort and waiting for parts from CRC, I finally got my new Hope BB and Truvativ adapter and had it fitted today.

The old BB was a mess. The casing was cracked and the bearings were loose and worn right now.

Now I had the new one fitted, I thought great no probs. Wrong.

The bike is still making exactly the same clicking noise and I can feel it right through my pedal.

It's definitely coming from the crank or frame. No doubt about this. I removed the chain and it still makes the same noise and I can still feel it through my pedal, but not so strongly (since it isn't under pressure).

Any idea what it could be? Somebody suggested the frame could be cracked, but the chap fitting the BB would have noticed this I assume since he faced the frame and checked the inside of the BB area on the bike.

It's going in for a full service which will set me back the best part of a hundred notes, but any ideas as to what the problem could be so I can provide some hints?

Cheers,

BB

P.S. It's a Spesh Stumpy FSR 2006.

Might seem obvious, but you haven't mentioned it...

Pedal bearing?

Possibly....but we can eliminate that next week. I've got a new set of pedals coming so I'll try it out then. In fact, I could even try my DMR's now.

However, it's unlikely as the pedals I'm using are brand new (almost). They've only got one serious ride under them and the noise came before I added my SPD's.

Shoes.

Check that the cleats are tight. In fact, try the DMRs and normal shoes.

I get this on my roadie but it's not annoying me enough to warrant finding out what it is because I don't have much spare time at the moment frown

I had the same-nearly new pedals so presumed it was the BB, changed the BB for a Hope but noise still there. Replaced the DMR V8's and all good again.
