I have an 07 or is it 08 6700 SLR. I am sure I paid quite a few hundred less but with a better spec eg Juicy 5s. I assume exchange rates are to blame!

Most '09 bikes are lower specced and/or higher priced than last year.

Parts are about 20-30% more this year because of the weekness of the pound, and generall recession related horror stories.

British stuff isn't effected as much, but even Orange and Hope have been effected by the cost of raw materials.

Yes. The pound is so weak that anything from the States, Japan or Europe is much more expensive.

My wife has just bought a brand new 2008 Scott at 55% of the price of a 2009 model, mainly because the shop bought it at 2008 prices and have discounted it from 2008 prices. I've also just got a great saving on a 08 model over the current model.

I can remember when Middleburn chainsets were considered 'expensive'. Now they're bargaintastically priced.
