i like the idea of having proper brakes on a road bike(speeds reached are much higher than on a MT?B ), wouldnt mind a go myself?
Looks really nice. I used to have a Genesis Day 01, very similar. You'll be surprised how much quicker than a mountain bike it is on the road.As for disc brakes on road bikes, you rarely see it simply because the braking force produced by disc brakes is a bit over the top when there is such a tiny contact area between the tyre and the road.

That's the idea.
Interesting that you say that though. My first 'trial' ride to work was on a six inch travel full susser, after I'd obtained a quote for a full on road bike. I found that actually it wasn't as knackering as expected even on a relatively heavy duty MTB, however the roads round here are attrocious. So that's when I changed the order to a hybrid - still usefully more efficient than a full on mountain bike, but also a bit tougher than a normal road bike. I found for commuting (even in my sorry state) I didn't really need the full featherweight roadie business.
I also rather like the discs even if they probably are overkill on such skinny tyres.

I bought a Ridgeback Velocity a couple of weeks ago. The same 22 mile cycle that took >2 hours on my mountain bike took me 1hr 40mins on Sunday!
Managed to hit 29.7 miles an hour according to the road speed digi sign coming home (and my bike comp) - ambition is to get 30 or over
It's surprising how much quicker it is....and it handles the potholes fine (within reason).

Yeah, same as driving a 1.1 Fiesta and desparately overtaking someone in a 911 in a 30 to prove you are 'faster' .. even though the 911 doesn't care?
king losers ! hahahaha
