Shortening disc brake lines

Hi folks, I've got my first bike with disc brakes (hydraulic). The front brake line was always a bit long - but now that I've narrowed the bars (they were silly wide) it really is too long. I've always been reasonably happy doing bike mechanics, but know nothing of disc brakes. Is it easy for me to shorten the brake line?

Yes it's easy, just get a spare olive which is the crushable brass ring. Some extra brake fluid as recommended by whatever brakes you have.
Your brakes may have come with a cutting block, 2 pieces of plastic with a hole in which you sandwich your brake line it to make a clean cut.
If not get a new scalpel blade and carefully cut without squashing the pipe.
Refit your screw collar, then your olive and refit to your caliper, tighten and bleed.
