Does you company do the cycle2work scheme or whatever it's called? Ihaven't used it because I'm a student but as I understand it you can get 50% of off a bike if you go through with it... Someone on here will correct me in a min, but if I'm right that means you can get a 1k+ bike for your budget. thumbup

Personally, with you budget I'd look for older models (say 07/08) and get a bike with better spec. thumbup

I had an XTC years and years ago - an XTC850 IIRC, my first proper mountain bike. Handled superbly for a hardtail and the Giant MPH hydraulic discs were superb. No idea how the current model compares (sorry!) but from my somewhat outdated experience I'd recommend the range.

thanks guys. I am still working my probationary period at Norfolk County Council and am not eligible for the ride to work scheme that they have yet to put in place......

I've arranged to hire an xtc3 from the local bike hire to do three hours in the morning that should be help make my mind up...

I have service looming for the car and other bills so trying o keep the expenditure down...and with 33"legs and 6' 1" I need a 19" or 20" frame....... You seem to have landed a really good deal at £750....
