Hi, i'm just starting out so was looking at a specialized hardrock sport disc as a first bike? not really wanting to spend to much money on my first bike, these are £362. What do use guys think? are there any other bikes at this price i should consider?

Cheers Adam

I think they are a good bike for the money, there wouldn't be much difference between bikes at this price range, but Specialized are good bikes usually.

You could look at a trek but it would be similar, go for a carrera and get a higher spec possibly (i wouldn't) or go for a commencal and have a good frame but worse parts.

I don't think you could go wrong with it really for a first bike its pretty cool.smile

I've had mine for four years and I love it! I've upgraded some parts but on the whole it's a very sturdy bike and feels great to ride. I'm saving up for a new bike but the Hardrock will never be left to rust, it's too special to me. Go for it!

Spesh Hardcocks are great entry into the world of mtb. They are repeatedly and universally liked by the riding press and offer great value for money.

Buy it, ride it, you'll love it.

i also owned a spesh hardon sports disc 07 model. bought it as a hack/spare/wife bike. would recommend it although slightly heavy for a HT coming in at 32 lbs.

lent it to ozzie mat, the guide in morzine, whilst his 222 was off the road. he stuck wide bars on it and a 2.5 high roller on the front. he gave it a good roasting and treated it like a step-child on the slopes. the spech lapped it up no problems at all.

Good news, the other half had, well still has, a rockhopper in the garage. It was her first "proper" mtb and wont let it go..... Great bike for the money!

I used one once for a short ride and found it heavy and basically a bit horrid but I guess it depends what you are used to.

I have a HardRock Pro Disk (07 I think) which is fine for the sort of cycling I do these days (commuting daily and off-road trails) but nowehere near as good as my old RockHopper. The RockHopper was so much lighter and agile. You could bunny hop, jump and all sorts whereas the HardRock is so heavy you are glued to the tarmac.

Just my opinion...
