M.Mayhem tyre recommendations
Discussion
2.3 will be no use in the wet whatsoever - it's a grassy course, so you get a lot of detritus sticking to your tyres when it rains. The pro teams were running Geax 1.5 tyres last year in the mud (pretty much all of it) and they were about the only ones who could keep riding through the poorest of conditions. Even then there were numerous issues with mud-clogged frames.
I used Trailraker 1.8 tyres which weren't ideal, but to be honest it was so appalling that very little would have improved matters for me, and I just resigned myself to walking a fair chunk of the 2am lap.
If it's dry, use what you like. It's not a technical course by any means, and there are no drops/high speed downhill sections, so I'd suggest minimal-tread lightweight 2.0 tyres to give a bit of speed. I used Hutchinson Python during practice last year and they worked well.

<lots of useful stuff> + "practice"
You're scaring me now
Don't worry, it's only serious for the top 20 or so in each category. Then you get the useless old biffers like me who just like a weekend's camping and meeting up with old mates.
I'd have thought tyre choice was the least of your worry's! What about staying awake for 24 hours, keeping warm at night, food, lights, energy bars...........and (seriously) dont forget the baby wipes, I always take them, freshen you up a treat. Sadly not riding this year looking after a solo rider. Have fun.
