OK, like a lot of Londoners, our bikes have to live in the hallway...actually fit pretty well in what was the understairs cupboard, but which has been opened up.

Even so, the 3rd bike lives outdoors as there's not room for 3, so I was thinking...given that the pedals and the handlebars are really the widest parts...

Does anyone make pedals that flip up out of the way when storing?

Likewise, is there a quick-release handlebar stem nut to allow the bars to be turned...??

What you need is a Brompton.

Yes you can get 'flipping' pedals - they're some fitted to Bromptons.

Why not just take the pedals off the bike and twist the stem/handlebars around each time? That's how I get my bikes into their home. Bit of a ball ache, but the again that's the space I have.

How high are your ceilings? If they are high enough, you can set up a pulley system so that you can hook the saddle and handle bars to it, and hoist it up into the roofspace. Tends to work best in georgian houses which have 3m high ceillings, also needs a sympathetic landlord......

I use 2 wall mounted hooks that would normally be used to hang ladders on a garage wall. If you have a REALLY high (i.e. victorian) hall, you could hand the front wheel off each hook?

Quick release on the front wheel. Take the front wheel off and lean against the wall then you are free to turn the handlebars to the side.
