Going back to flats!
Discussion
Afternoon!
I've been looking around for a nice set of flats for my bike, having used SPD for ages now, I just felt like a change.
The other day I found details for Burgtec, they looked good so I bought a pair that arrived this morning!
They came in a great box!

Really nicely packaged.

Gorgeous titanium axles and amazing quality

Look great on the bike!

Combined with 5 10's, they are super sticky!
Flats have come on a long way! I'd recommend them to anyone looking for a decent flat pedal.
Cheers.

Whilst nice, I've heard too many bad stories about bearings/bushings, and for £145, I'd want them to last forever. Plus what with smashed into rocks left, right and centre, they'll only retain their good looks for 20 minutes...
My £45 Shimano DXs are lovely

Its funny, everyone says DX's are the way to go but I thought they were rubbish. I also race a lot and don't know any good regular racers that use them. The pins are smaller diameter than most pedals so when you hit them off the ground (I do this a lot I will admit) they shear off very easily.
I have just bought a set of flats to try out as I have been riding clips for 5 years or so and bought Sunline V1's on the recomendation of quite a few of my mates. Still need to get some 5:10's before I try them out though.

I raced for years on DX's, don't hit your pins on the deck and you'll be fine I have just bought a set of flats to try out as I have been riding clips for 5 years or so and bought Sunline V1's on the recomendation of quite a few of my mates. Yep, they are pretty expensive but look at them!
I'm afraid I'm guilty of buying whatever I like the look of, if I can afford it then I'll have it. I would be surprised if there was anyone on here who can honestly say that they only ever buy what is necessary to do the job, we all buy whatever the hell we want, save that bit longer to buy the latest frame or best forks, it's only natural to want nice things if you work bloody hard to be able to afford them.
Of course there will be better bits of kit, lighter, cheaper, more robust, whatever you want, I'm not too fussed, I'm happy to know that I brought some beautifully designed and made pedals, supported a UK company and most importantly will enjoy using them every time I get on my bike. Isn't that just about the only best criteria for buying anything?
Whatever you ride, enjoy it!
Have a good weekend
