New bike bounciness
Discussion
No pictures yet, so I haven't put this in the Show off your bike thread, but today I acquired a new bike. I say acquired, I actually put down the "top up" payment over and above what the cycle to work voucher covered just to reserve the thing until my voucher arrives. Anyone who has looked at Evans' website (where our cycle to work scheme operates from) will have seen just how short they are on stocks of anything remotely interesting.
Anyway today I phoned my local branch to see if they could order in both of the two frame sizes I wanted to try. Turns out that they had one in stock but that it was to be sent to another store later today. So at lunchtime I popped in, tried it for size and paid for the top up on the spot.
So, as soon as the voucher arrives I will be going in to pick up my rather lovely Specialized Tarmac Elite and I'm very
about it. Something very special about the anticipation of waiting for a new bike, and hopefully it'll get me through the post Le Mans blues...

Either don't bother, and shave £5 off the price, or stick something decent on. Personally I shall be taking my SPD-SLs with me to the shop and intend to ride it home.
Next decision is how best to sell my old bike. Allez Comp, the frame is from 2003 but I built it up myself with Ultegra 10 about three years ago and it's really quite a nice bike (I only bought the new one because it was too small). What's the consensus on selling as a complete bike vs breaking for parts. I know that the latter is far more of a bind, but I'm just really interested in making as much as possible for it.

pop an ad in cycling weekly and see how it goes there, i am sure you will get some interested parties as it sounds ideal for a newbie taking up the new sportive craze or an ideal winter/second bike. the allez was/is so popular that there might be a fair few out there but almost none with ultegra so you should sell it on without much stress.
