was offered a shop demo Zesty 314 for £1500 yesterday.

didnt have the cash so had to begrudgingly turn it down, no doubt it has found a happy owner already.

Shop said that stocks nationwide were very low and they were selling the demo on account of a restock being unlikely. anyone considering a low end Zesty or Spicy would be wise to make a decision soon...

could all be horse manure but they have been getting rave reviews for the last 9 months so its likely that sales have been strong.

I heard the same. Suppliers were not sure if they were getting any more in at all.

Lots of LBSs have run out of Giant Anthems too.

Credit crunch!

Yep, was lucky to secure my Spicy for £1600 for a 2008 model.

Very VERY popular bikes.

i was waiting for you to reply! i'm gutted to be honest, i tried a zesty for size and really liked it, the angles/tube lengths were spot on but i didnt have the cash at the time. i dont know if its people buying bikes or manufacturers doing smaller production runs though?!?!

Both to be honest with Lapierre.

Commencal did the same trick for the first couple of years, due to using a smaller distributor, and also limiting the range and quantity in order to build a 'following'.

I love Commencals to bits, but have always felt since 2008 they did a bit of a Cannondale and Specialized and went nuts with the range and oversupplied the market, ending up stinging the dealers with having too much stock at the end of the year, meaning that there are too many discounted bikes, and this adversly affects the 2nd hand market also. Only great for one person and thats the distributor.

If Lapierre have any sense they'll not repeat Commencals mistake: we no longer talk of Commencal with the same baited breath as we now do with Lapierre, even though the Commencal range is as strong as ever.

The magazines have a large part to play in this: Lapierre seem to be the 'in' brand at the moment/
